The work of NYLAG Staff Attorney Shana Platz was featured at the Equal Justice Works Awards Dinner on October 21. The audience viewed a video that focused on Platz, a 2009 Equal Justice Works Fellow, and one of the cases she successfully resolved.

Shana’s fellowship serves to expand the capacity of NYLAG’s LegalHealth unit, and focuses in particular on maternal health and the non-medical needs of low-income pregnant woman and new mothers. She started a legal clinic at Maimonides Medical Center’s Women’s Primary Care Clinic, which was highlighted in the video. Also in the video is Director of NYLAG’s LegalHealth unit, Randye Retkin, and Dr. Howard Minkoff, Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Maimonides Medical Center.
