Apply for a FEMA grant or SBA loan for property damage before the deadline

UPDATE:  The deadline to apply for FEMA grants and SBA loans has been extended to April 13, 2013.

The Transitional Sheltering Assistance Program has extended its checkout date  to April 14, 2013.

MANY IMMIGRANT FAMILIES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A FEMA GRANT

Only one household member has to have a qualifying immigration
status for the household to be eligible for a FEMA grant

The minor child of undocumented parents
can be the qualifying household member

-ALL U.S Citizens and Green Card Holders (aka Lawful Permanent Residents) can apply for FEMA benefits

-People with many other immigration statuses may also qualify for FEMA benefits. If any of the following applies to any member of the household, the household can apply for FEMA benefits:

  • Granted asylum or admitted as a refugee
  • Paroled into the United States for at least 1 year
  • Granted withholding of removal or deportation
  • Cuban and Haitian entrants (note: this does NOT include Haitians granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS))
  • Approved VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) Self-Petition  or applicants with a pending VAWA Self-Petition who have received a letter of establishment of prima facie case
  • Granted a T Visa (based on human trafficking)

*Household members with certain other immigration statuses may also be eligible for FEMA benefits
