Fariah Amin, Staff Attorney, Matrimonial & Family Law

Fariah is a staff attorney for the Matrimonial & Family Law Unit at NYLAG. She represents victims of domestic violence in Family and Supreme Court in matters such as divorce, custody, visitation, child support, and family offenses. Specifically, Fariah works closely with Asian immigrant communities and organizations helping domestic violence victims navigate the legal system while ensuring that sensitivity to the cultural needs of the client is maintained. Prior to working at NYLAG from 2012 to 2014 Fariah worked in Family Court Legal Services at the Administration for Children Services (ACS) representing the agency in child abuse and neglect proceedings. At ACS, Fariah conducted various hearings in Family Court such as fact-findings, permanency hearings and dispositional hearings, among other judicial proceedings. From 2010-2012, Fariah worked as a Compliance Attorney for the Garden City Group, Inc., where she ensured  compliance with a multi-district litigation Court Order governing the administration of a $20 billion settlement compensation fund created in response to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon British Petroleum oil spill. Fariah graduated from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2010. She graduated cum laude with her Bachelor in Arts from New York University in 2007 where she majored in Political Science and History.
