Rose Marie Cantanno

Rose Marie assists clients in all aspects of foreclosure and the loss mitigation process, including representation at court-mandated Settlement Conferences and negotiation of loan modifications. Before working at NYLAG, she was a partner for twelve years in the real estate law firm of Liotta & Cantanno, LLP which specialized in representing buyers, sellers and lenders in residential real estate transactions. The firm also represented clients seeking loan modifications and short sales. Rose Marie received her BA in Classical Studies from Hunter College and her JD from Brooklyn Law School.

Timothy Brennan
Staff Attorney, Foreclosure Prevention

Tim is a Staff Attorney in the Foreclosure Prevention Project. He represents homeowners in New York City facing mortgage foreclosure proceedings and a range of other consumer issues at both trial and appellate levels. Tim is also an active member of New Yorkers for Responsible Lending, a statewide coalition that promotes access to fair and affordable financial services throughout New York. Prior to joining NYLAG, Tim was a public defender in New Jersey and clerked for a trial court judge. While attending law school as a night student, Tim was a high school guidance counselor. Tim received his B.A. from Loyola University Maryland and his J.D. from Seton Hall Law.

Noelle Eberts

Noelle is a Staff Attorney in the Foreclosure Prevention Project. Noelle assists clients with all aspects of foreclosure and loss mitigation, including litigation, representation at court-ordered settlement conferences, and negotiation of loan modifications. She also assists homeowners with pro se legal representation. Noelle first began her NYLAG career as an intern in the Matrimonial & Family Law Unit representing domestic violence victims. Before joining NYLAG, she was a real estate litigation associate at a mid-size law firm on Long Island. Noelle received her BA in Metropolitan Studies from New York University and her JD from Brooklyn Law School.

Julie Howe
Staff Attorney, Foreclosure Prevention

Julie is a staff attorney in the Foreclosure Prevention Project at NYLAG. She assists clients with all aspects of loss mitigation, including litigation, representation at court-ordered settlement conferences, and negotiation of loan modifications. Julie also assists homeowners with pro se representation at the Nassau Foreclosure Clinic. Prior to joining NYLAG, Julie served as a pro-bono Assistant District Attorney at the Brooklyn D.A.’s Office. Julie has interned at numerous government and non-profit organizations, including the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Richmond County D.A.’s Office, The Door’s Legal Services Center, and Lawyers for Children. Julie received her B.A. cum laude from Wellesley College and her J.D. from New York University School of Law.

Gita Rayavarapu
Staff Attorney, Foreclosure Prevention

Gita Rayavarapu is a Staff Attorney in the Foreclosure Project.  She represents sellers in residential real estate transactions, such as short sales. She also assists clients with all aspects of loss mitigation, litigation, and representation at court-ordered settlement conferences. In addition, Gita assists homeowners with pro se representation in the foreclosure clinics located in the counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Kings, Richmond and the Bronx. Prior to joining NYLAG, Gita worked at a private firm handling matrimonial matters in New York and New Jersey.  Gita receive her B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University, Newark, and her J.D. from Michigan State University, College of Law, with a concentration in Family & Child Advocacy.

Jessica Scholes
Staff Attorney, Foreclosure Prevention

Jessica is a Staff Attorney in the Foreclosure Prevention Project at NYLAG. She assists clients with all aspects of foreclosure and the loss mitigation process, including litigation, representation at court-ordered settlement conferences, and negotiation of loan modifications. Jessica also assists homeowners with pro se representation at the Bronx Foreclosure Clinic. Prior to joining NYLAG, Jessica completed a year-long fellowship with the Open Society Justice Initiative, where she focused on international human rights law and national security issues. During law school, Jessica worked at Disability Rights Advocates, the New York Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights Watch, and NYU School of Law’s International Human Rights Clinic. Before law school, Jessica worked at CSIS, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank and HREA, a non-profit human rights education organization. Jessica received her B.A. magna cum laude and M.A. from Yale University and her J.D. cum laude from New York University School of Law.
