NYLAG apoya la “Ley de prevención de desplazamiento de inquilinos y estabilidad de vivienda de emergencia”

Las comunidades de color se ven afectadas de manera desproporcionada por la devastación económica y de salud causada por el COVID-19 y podrían enfrentarse a la falta de vivienda si no contamos con la ayuda adecuada para el alquiler y la vivienda. A continuación se muestra un extracto de nuestro memorando de apoyo:

“Existe una emergencia grave y sin precedentes en el estado de Nueva York debido a la pandemia del nuevo coronavirus. El alcance de esta emergencia es casi imposible de evaluar, lo que requiere que el Estado responda con fuerza a la crisis para minimizar lo que seguramente será un daño catastrófico a la salud, la seguridad y el bienestar social y económico de la población. Sin una acción decisiva por parte de la Legislatura y el Gobernador, es probable que Nueva York vea una ola de desalojos que eclipsará en muchos órdenes de magnitud cualquier aumento en el desplazamiento en la historia del estado ”.

Safety Net Assistance (SNA) Benefits Extended to Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) Beneficiaries

The New York Legal Assistance Group is pleased to announce that we have reached a settlement agreement that will result in New York expanding eligibility for subsistence public assistance, called Safety Net Assistance (SNA) benefits, to special immigrant juvenile (SIJ) beneficiaries—unmarried immigrants under 21 years old who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected by one or both of their parents.
