With over a decade of experience providing financial empowerment services to at-risk and vulnerable communities, Damara leads a team of knowledgeable and compassionate financial counselors committed to helping New Yorkers build strong financial foundations, overcome financial barriers, and create pathways to financial security. Since its inception in 2009, counselors at the Financial Empowerment and Advocacy Unit have empowered clients to make informed financial decisions and take control of their financial futures.

Damara previously served as a supervising financial counselor and as a senior financial counselor in the unit. Before joining NYLAG, Damara worked at Urban Upbound, providing financial and housing counseling services to low-income New Yorkers.
