NYLAG Vice President Shani Adess Talks Immigration on PIX11 Community CloseUp

NYLAG Vice President Shani Adess went on PIX11’s Community CloseUp with Jay Dow to speak about some of NYLAG’s immigration work, what we’re hearing from the community, and how City policies like shelter stay limits impact our new neighbors’ ability to achieve status and establish their lives in the US.

“One of the most important things that we can do that we really focus on at NYLAG is making sure that folks who are coming to us are getting full, robust screenings — that they aren’t just being screened, for example, for one form of relief, but every possible avenue that’s out there.”

One thing’s for sure: No matter the rhetoric or efforts to scare our neighbors, NYLAG is still here, working with communities to ensure access to expert, trauma-informed legal services.
