Where your story becomes our shared fight for justice
Founded in 1990, NYLAG is a leading civil legal services organization combatting economic, racial, and social injustice by advocating for people experiencing poverty or in crisis.
An anonymous donor has agreed to match gifts made from now through June 30th up to $20,000 in support of our critical free civil legal services! The Resiliency Fund will provide financial stability to ensure NYLAG remains strong at a time when our clients need us most.
NYLAG co-drafted, along with several LGBTQ+ advocates, the Gender Recognition Act. The act makes it easier for LGBTQ+ people to update and obtain government-issued IDs that accurately reflect their gender identity.
NYLAG’s Deborah Berkman sheds light on the challenges families in shelters face when getting their children to school, and rallies behind Int. No. 150 in hopes of lessening the burden on the parents and the children.
NYLAG’s Ryan Foley and Ruth Stein press for increased access to free legal services to address the digital divide older Veterans experience when seeking help with complex, intersecting legal issues affecting their health.
