Smash: Christian Ferreira Represented Latinos at the New York Legal Assistance Group Foundation Gala

Christian Ferreira, an activist, actor, social media influencer, and NYLAG client, was featured in Smash after being selected to share his story at NYLAG’s  2023 annual gala. Christian fled his home country, Paraguay, for safety and opportunities after facing persecution as an LGBTQ activist. The journey was not easy, but after 5 long years of fighting, Christian was finally granted asylum with the help of his NYLAG attorneys.

“’…I needed to change my immigration status, which requires a lot of time and money that I didn’t have at the time,’ explains Ferreira. It was at that time that NYLAG took his case pro bono.

“On May 18, NYLAG held its annual fundraising gala, an event that brings together philanthropists, human rights activists, and celebrities. Christian Ferreira has been chosen by the organization and has been invited to give a speech about his experience as a Latino immigrant in New York.

“’…There is still a lot to do, especially for those who come from Paraguay…,’ said Ferreira.

“…This invitation is a recognition of the decisions and work that Ferreira has done over the years. His speech not only focuses on legal help for immigration procedures, but also on his life a professional and internet personality.”
