Volunteers
NYLAG welcomes the contributions of non-legal volunteers—undergraduate and high school students as well as other skilled volunteers—to support NYLAG’s overall mission.
Ongoing Volunteers
NYLAG’s volunteers have diverse backgrounds—ranging from retired professionals to high school and undergraduate students seeking experience in the nonprofit legal field. Ongoing volunteers commit to working a minimum of two days or 15 hours per week at NYLAG’s Manhattan headquarters.
You can find a range of current opportunities from administrative help to marketing, photography, and video assistance on Idealist, Volunteer Match, Time for Good, and through college career services.

Language Access Volunteer
In one of the most diverse cities in the world, language services are essential to NYLAG’s mission to provide high quality legal services to communities in need.
Language Access Volunteers skilled in translation and interpretation work closely with NYLAG attorneys to interpret during client interviews, meetings, and court proceedings, and to translate legal documents.
