On Tuesday, April 24th, NYLAG will hold its annual Gala celebrating its mission to provide equal justice for all New Yorkers. Eric Schneiderman, New York State Attorney General, will deliver remarks. The evening’s honorees are Joseph Polizzotto, General Counsel of Deutsche Bank Americas, and Amy Schulman, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Pfizer Inc, and President and General Manager of Pfizer Nutrition. Last year’s Gala—NYLAG’s first ever—was enormously successful, attracting an attendance of nearly 500 people and raising over $1 million. This year, NYLAG hopes to build on this momentum and exceed its 2011 achievements.

Under the banner of “Improving Health Through Legal Assistance,” the 2012 Gala pays tribute to the diverse health-related assistance NYLAG provides to its clients, and also celebrates the 10th Anniversary of its LegalHealth division. More than 60% of all NYLAG services help low-income people obtain access to healthcare benefits or resolve legal situations that adversely affect their health. NYLAG’s holistic approach to providing services ensures that the unique needs of vulnerable populations—including immigrants, the elderly, Holocaust survivors, those suffering from serious illnesses, and the disabled—are met.

Held at the historic Pierre Hotel, the event will be hosted by Award-winning Journalist Jane Hanson and will feature a cocktail reception, silent auction and seated dinner program. Amy Schulman will be honored with the Corporate Leadership Award for her role in developing Pfizer’s robust philanthropic programs, which have contributed significantly to the growth of NYLAG’s LegalHealth practice. Longtime NYLAG Board member Joseph Polizzotto will receive the Visionary of Justice award in recognition of his pivotal role in fostering and supporting the NYLAG’s track record of success. The firm Proskauer Rose LLP is providing Underwriter support for the event, which is co-chaired by Joseph Allerhand, Partner at Weil, Gotshal and Manges; Gary Hattem, President of the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation; and Bradley Lerman, Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Pfizer Inc. More than fifty top private law firms are participating as sponsors.

Individual tickets start at $750; journal pages from $1,000 and tables from $10,000. For more information on the Gala, please contact Merritt Birnbaum, Director of Development, at [email protected] or 212.613.5015.
